The short version

• Your audio never leaves your device. Noteform transcribes music inside your browser. Recordings, uploaded files, notes and chords are never sent to us or to anyone else.
• Noteform has no accounts and doesn’t ask for your name or email address.
• The site shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure those ads, as described below.

Your audio and transcriptions

When you upload a file, record a browser tab or record a microphone, the audio is decoded and analysed by code running in your browser on your own computer or phone. The note model is downloaded once from this site and then runs locally. Your audio, the detected notes and chords, your edits and your exported files are never uploaded.

Noteform doesn’t save your work in your browser either: no cookies, local storage or other site storage is used by the transcriber. When you close or reload the page, your recording and results are gone unless you downloaded them.

Advertising and cookies

Noteform is free because it shows ads. The ads are provided by Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Google and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device details, cookie identifiers, and which pages you view and ads you see or click. Google explains this in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Ad requests never include your audio or transcriptions.

Your choices in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you’ll see a consent message from Google before personalized ads are used, and you can accept or refuse. To change your choice later, clear this site’s cookies in your browser and the message will appear again. You can also use the browser’s privacy settings or an ad blocker to block advertising cookies; the transcriber works the same either way.

US state privacy rights

Noteform itself doesn’t sell personal information and doesn’t collect any beyond what hosting and advertising need, as described here. Residents of some US states, such as California, have rights to opt out of the use of their information for targeted advertising; you can do that through Google Ads Settings and the opt-out links above.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives the technical details of each request (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Noteform doesn’t use any analytics or tracking service of its own.

Children

Noteform is a general-audience site and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
